War never changes…
By the end of the 21st century, the world was in turmoil. American troops had annexed Canada, and China had invaded Alaska.
In Florida, things where just as grim.
Under cover of world wide instability, and with the US Military occupied in the north, a group of Cuban guerrilla fighters made there way from Cuba to southern Florida on hi-jacked oil frigates, on a mission to “re-claim there lost people”.
What they didn’t count on was that the citizens of Florida would band together, forming the Florida Militia Group, or FMG. Arming themselves as best they could, the FMG managed to drive back the Cuban Militants, now called “Los Libres”, who retreated back to there ships, and the sea from whence they came.
It was a testament to the preserverience of the common man, and what normal people can accomplish if they work together.
The bombs…didn’t care.
When the bombs came, it devestated everyone equally. Hold out Los Libres, FMG, US Military, innocent civilians just trying to keep there head down. None went unscathed.
No amount of unity, solidatarity, or “Power of the People” could save them from atomic fire.
For those who could get there in time, there was safety, in the Vaults. Most of which where evacuated to early, as the result of conflicts locally.
For those hidden in Vault 125, life was simple and effecient. One of the finest examples of self-sustainable enviroments, assisted by genetic enhanced “vitamins”, life is far from hard.
It is here, that the people wait. Going about there dailey routines, day after day. Waiting. Waiting for the all clear from Orbital Vault One, a cryogenic station in Earth orbit, tasked with monitoring the state of the souther US, and responsible for sending the all clear signal to the Vaults under its care, so that the people may return to the world.
But an accident, one carless motion, will alter the lives of the residents of Vault 125 forever. And if the Vault Dwellers come out, will they find as easy a peace as they had inside? Or will they be faced with a war of survival?
Because War…
